PRACTITIONER WORKSHOPS

Putting Theory into Practice
Peregrine's practitioner workshops give practical experience of the styles and techniques of leading theatre practitioners such as Brecht, Stanislavsky, Grotowski, Artaud, Boal (Forum), Pinter and Beckett (Absurdism).

These practitioner workshops are particularly valued by teachers and students for their ability to demystify technical terms and guiding principles which students can sometimes find bewildering.

Brecht – gestus, Alienation / verfremdung, rehearsal techniques, Epic Theatre

Stanislavsky – Magic if, Objectives and Motivation, E-memory, spontaneity, Naturalism

Artaud – Theatre of Cruelty, gesture, sound, movement, light, shade, rhythm, frenzy, ritual and incantation.

Grotowski – Poor Theatre, concentration, discipline, the ensemble, simplicity, movement, performance as gift.

One-day Practitioner Workshop – compares and contrasts how 2 or more practitioners would approach a given text.
